Goa is the state where I went to celebrate 2008 New Year last time with friends. Having visiting a lot of places in India, I think if you could get a good hotel to stay then half of your trip is already made up. After finishing our trip to Dalhousie and Khajjiar in May’2016, I and my wife planned for a trip to Goa for celebrating her Birthday. Now that we planned our trip to Goa, we needed to get one of the best hotels in Goa. After doing a lot of research on Goibibo, I decided to book our stay at Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort, Goa from 29th of August’2016 to 1st of September’2016.
Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort, Goa – An Honest Review
First thing while booking a Hotel is to check its location. I did the same and read a lot of positive reviews from a lot of customers on popular websites.
Location
This hotel is located at quite a nice place near the popular Calangute and Baga Beach. It just takes 2 minutes to walk through the Hotel to reach in between Calangute and Baga Beach.
The hotel is located in Calangute. As Calangute area in North Goa is the most visited area by the tourists in Goa, the location of the hotel is perfect. So before booking, you don’t really have to think twice about the location of Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort.
Parking Facility
I like to travel places by my own car or I hire a self drive car there itself, so I always look for Parking Facility. Usually good hotels provide parking facility and this one has ample parking facility for parking at least 20-30 cars.
The hotel also has a taxi stand just outside the hotel. So, if you are looking to hire a taxi or a self drive car you could get it all there. As a matter of fact, we got self drive WagonR for Rs.2000 for 2 days and the good thing was we did not had to deposit any security deposit as we has a room in Estrela Do Mar.
First Look
If you like a Hotel on its first look, there are high chances that your would love staying there. However, we found it a bit average looking when we first entered it.
But as we roamed around the premises, the hotel was really beautiful, especially the Swiss Cottages.
The Rooms
This hotel has variety of rooms according to your Budget like Luxury Rooms, Family Rooms, Swiss, Grand Swiss and more.
From 29th-30th August, We booked a Luxury Room (Breakfast Inclusive) and got a room on the first floor above the reception area.
From 30th August to 1st September, We booked a Grand Swiss Cottage (Breakfast Inclusive). These cottages are build altogether in a different area of the resort.
Rooms looked amazing on the very first look, especially the Grand Swiss Rooms. So, I would suggest you to prefer Grand Swiss Rooms over the Luxury Rooms.
Note : Do not take the Luxury rooms on the first floor above the pool side area. Those rooms appear very old in design and look. Ask for the newer rooms if you want to stay at the Luxury Rooms.
The Staff
From our entry to the Hotel till we left, the staff of the Hotel was very courteous. They helped us put our luggage into the rooms. We were served on arrival welcome drinks and tea preparation vessel and material. I would specially like to mention that the Restaurant Staff was the best of all.
The Food
If you get the right type of food at a Hotel you will definitely enjoy your stay. Estrela Do Mar serves mouth watering buffet breakfast, and I will not say the same for dinner and lunch. If you are staying at Esrela Do Mar, you must book the rooms along with breakfast.
Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort has buffet system for Breakfast, which is value for money. The variety of dishes served will confuse you which one to eat and which one you should not.
Not only it serves vegetarian food, Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort also provides you with Non-Vegetarian and Sweet dishes to choose from.
Negatives
Every hotel has some positives and a few negatives as well and so did Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort. Some of the things which I didnt like about this Resort are :
1) No Free Wifi !! Yes the Wifi is chargeable at this hotel @ Rs.300 for 10 hours. After having stayed at a lot of good hotels in India, I thought free Wifi comes by default. But not at Estrela!
2) Only the buffet breakfast is good. If you want to go for Lunch or Dinner, the taste is not that great. At least people from North India wont like the taste that much.
3) The Beach is not that close as I thought it would be. The beach is not even visible from most parts of the resort.
