‘Dhadak’ is an adaptation of the Marathi movie ‘Sairat’, which is regarded as a top hit in Maharashtra. The makers have rephrased the famous song ‘Zingat’. The Hindi version of the movie has been rehashed by its original composers’ duo Ajay-Atul.
The movie is directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by none other than Karan Johar. The film is scheduled to release in all India on July 20, 2018.
Khaitan, the director of Dhadak is a youngster, known for writing and directing hit movies like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. His work on the Badrinath got him a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Director of the year.
Khaitan had initially joined a film institute started and supported by a veteran of Bollywood, Subhash Ghai to break into the movie industry. He said the institute trained him to the technical knowledge and also credits the institute’s faculty with inviting the students to accompany them to set. At the film institue of Subhash ghai– The Whistling Woods, Khaitan worked on his first movie, Sherwani Kahaan Hai, which was shelved.
Janhvi said that the movie and its theme was very close to her as well as her mom. “I saw Sairat with mom at home and I remember telling mom, ‘I wish that this was my first film and I could do something like it’.
She explained that she and her mom had a big discussion on how she wanted a role like this for me and then Karan Johar called and it got through.
