One thing that has been awaited by fans of actor is the collaboration of Vijay and AR Rahman with the release of Verithanam, a song from the upcoming movie Bigil. This number is special because this is the first time actor Vijay will sing for the Oscar winner.
AR Rahman said, “He (Vijay) has sung it well. His voice made a lot of difference to the song. I can’t express anything else about Bigil’s music, because we are still working on it – tense! ”
Although he refused to explain more about Verithanam, the composer seemed very happy with the success of the film’s first single, Singappeney, a song that celebrates women. When asked who the Singappeney was, the musician said, “My mother, of course, and my wife, daughter and sister. Everything is my support system, emotionally and spiritually. It’s amazing with them, and inspired by them.” Singappeney will also be performed at his upcoming concert in Chennai on August 10.
Besides Bigil, Rahman also has a bunch of Tamil film projects with prominent stars such as Kamal Haasan and Vikram. Asked if he would take the Ajith-Boney Kapoor project as it was being rumored, the composer explained, “No, I can’t because I’ve done too much.”
This is the first time Vijay will sing for Rahman, although he has sung before for several other composers such as Harris Jayaraj (Google Google song in Thuppaki), GV Prakash (Chellakutti di Theri) and so on. He was supposed to sing to AR Rahman in Sarkar, but eventually did not.
The film is third collaboration of Vijay and director Atlee, after Theri and Mersal were successful. Starring Vijay, Nayantara, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Yogi Babu. The film is said to be a sports drama, where Vijay plays the football coach. This film is produced by AGS Entertainment, and is set for the release on Deepavali this year.
