The state of Himachal Pradesh in India holds within itself a treasure of nature and to be a testimony to it you need to visit one of the places where snowfall is a blessing.

1) Shimla – Summer Capital of British India

The most happening place in winters the state capital is known for its snowfall and stunning landscape during the months of November to January. It is also known for the British style and grace and one visit the Viceregal lodge to feel it. The ridge is the place where young crowd enjoys the snowfall at the backdrop of Church. Just 117 kms from Chandigarh the connectivity to the city is easy and comfortable.

Located just 13kms from Shimla one cannot miss this skiing destination if you are at Shimla. The tall pine trees fully covered with white snow during the months of December and January presents a splendid view and the chilly wind on the highest point around justifies your visit. The wildlife Zoo and the amusement park are a great attraction during the winter as it is home to the state bird- the Himalayan Monal.

If you just want to be in a place which has tall pine trees, apple orchards, a beautiful stretch of the mountain with a thick blanket of snow all over, where you can feel the wind blowing between the orchards and pines, nature whistling in your ears then Narkanda is the place. Just 65 kms from Shimla this place has great opportunities for skiing on snow during the winter and has a Place called – Thanedar, known for glorious apple orchards.

4) Manali – The Honeymoon destination

The place is a famous honeymoon destination, set on the Beas River, jumping point for paragliding, rafting, and trekking. Surrounded by snow-crowned Himalayan peaks and magnificent valleys, this place is around 270 kms from Chandigarh. 5) Dalhousie – Hill Station on five Hills

6) Dharamsala – The multicultural India

This plateau hill station has a stream fed lake just at the center of the town – Khajjiar Lake. During the winters the lake freezes and the pines surrounding becomes white, a majestic look. The meadows get covered with a thick cover of pure white snow.  This place is just 122 kms from Dharamsala airport and the best time to visit is either in winters or in May to June. The home of lord Shiva – mount Kailash is visible from here.

8) Solang Valley – Beauty of Ski Slopes

The valley lies between the village Solang and the Beas Kund. Best time for snow lovers to visit the place is between Decembers to February. 9) Kullu –Valley of Gods
