Coronavirus: Big Bazaar delivery services to remain open during 21-day lockdown

Indian retail leader, Big Bazaar, has stepped forward with its doorstep service initiative in  Mumbai amidst national lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak. The supermarket giant has shared information regarding contact details of all its stores across the country on its Twitter page.

Big Bazaar, however, has not limited its doorstep delivery services to Mumbai. People in Uttarakhand, Ranchi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Rajasthan, and Gujarat will also be able to avail this service.

As per the official notification for lockdown, stores that deal with ration(under PDS), groceries, food, vegetable and fruits, animal fodder, fish and meat, milk and dairy booths, shall remain open. The notification also mentions that district authorities can encourage as well as provide home delivery of the above to reduce the movement of people outside the premises of their homes.

PM Modi announced a complete 21-days national lockdown across India on Tuesday that is effective from 25th March 2020. He took this crucial step for combating the spread of COVID-19.  The Indian Prime Minister also stated that the only way to deal with coronavirus is social distancing. He also appealed to citizens to avoid panicking as medicines and essential commodities will be available throughout the lockdown.
