This Powerful Photo Shows Pope Francis Praying Alone In St. Peter’s Square

With coronavirus pandemic raining hard on Italy, Pope Francis decided to deliver his “Urbi et Orbi” to the empty space of the St. Peter’s Square while the citizens were at their homes streaming the live session. This live streaming was done by the reporters of the Vatican City.

Although a situation like this would draw in a crowd in large numbers from different parts of the world. However, as of now, Italy is midst the centre of a global pandemic and following a strict lockdown protocol to ensure that lives are saved. So, as opposed to the traditional gathering that happens in Italy, Pope Francis and the Vatican live-streamed this blessing, while encouraging everyone to be a part of this method of communication in a spiritual way.

Traditionally, this praying session happens only on the celebratory occasions such as Easter Sunday or Christmas. However, Pope Francis decided to take a moment and pray to provide people the strength to deal with coronavirus and help end the pandemic.

Till date, more than 500,000 people all over the world have been tested positive for the COVID-19 pandemic while 26,000 have succumbed to the illness. Apart from this, the Pope has been offering his daily mass with help of live stream to ensure people do not lose faith and hope.
