Double-decker Uday Express to run between Coimbatore and Bengaluru starting 8th June

Uday Express- Double Decker Coimbatore-Bengaluru to be flagged off on June 8

Marking a new type of journey, the Uday Express shall start on the June 8th designated to run between Coimbatore and Bengaluru. This particular double decker train shall be inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain. The start of this new train shall effectively coincide with initiation of passenger lifts that shall operate at the platforms 3, 4 located inside Coimbatore Railway Station.

The plan for this train was brought together during the Railway Budget in the year 2016 which is all set to run between the states Karnataka as well as Tamil Nadu. The train is timed to depart at 2:15 PM from Bengaluru to reach Coimbatore station at exactly 9:00 PM the very same day. The total time taken to cover the journey distance is close to 6 hours, 45 minutes. The return journey from Coimbatore shall start at 5:40 AM to reach Bengaluru around 12:40 PM. The total time for return journey is 7 hours. The halt stations for the train are Erode, Tiruppur as well as Salem. The train shall run all week long except for Mondays.

The Uday Express has been designed as a completely air-conditioned train of the chair-car type. The unique thing about this train is the machine for food vending located inside. Apart from the vending machine, the train comes with mini-pantries along with total 14 coaches. Four of these coaches come with pantry while 8 of them come without one. The train flaunts a beautiful bright yellow and orange painting on the exterior. The train’s interior houses some of the best and upgraded modern facilities with a potential to accommodate close to 82 passengers in a single go.

Uday Express also comes with Wi-Fi service, toilets that have modular fittings, Snack Tables, LED Lighting, arm-rest, luggage racks, roller blinds and several other facilities. The Indian Railway further plans to convert the existing toilets into the upgraded bio-toilets.

Apart from the soon to start Uday Express, Indian Railways is also planning to bring in 2 more double-decker trains to run between the Bandra Station in Mumbai to Jamnagar in Gujarat. The second double-decker train shall run between the Vishakhapatnam station leading all the way up to Vijaywada. Both of these are located inside Andhra Pradesh. The charges for this double-decker train boils down to INR 400 for the first-class seats while the charges for the second-class seats are INR 300 per person.
