Serbia’s dog walking ban sparks outrage among pet owners

On Saturday, the government of Serbia initiated a ban on dog walks in a move to curb the COVID-19 spread. However, this move wasn’t welcomed by the pet owners and is now provoking a potential outrage. Frustrated pet owners have now taken to the social media channels to warn the government that this ban could lead to potential harm for dog’s health.

Not just that, it could also cause anxiety and frustration for both the owners and their pets. Nenad Milojkovic, a veterinarian, mentioned that protecting animal rights tends to be a big test for us as a society amid the pandemic. He mentioned that skipping the walks during the evening can potentially worsen the health conditions of dogs that have existing urinary issues.

Apart from this, the ban on dog walks can hamper the hygienic conditions inside the homes. This decision taken by the government on Saturday revoked the 20-minute long permission that was introduced for permitting the dog owners to get away for a quick walk.

Serbia is one of the country’s that has imposed a harsh collection of measures in the continent to curb the COVID-19 spread. This includes a complete ban on people’s movement, especially if they are 65 years or above. Plus, there is a complete curfew starting at 5 pm up until morning at 5 a.m.
