1) Srinagar – Land of Shikara

The state capital quietly placed at the bank of river Jhelum, and famous for Dal Lake, is the synonyms of vivacious, flawless beauty. The well known Dal lake features the Shikaras with canopies when frozen the same lake is another beauty. The snow-capped mountains around the lake present a marvelous view. Another not to be missed is staying in a “Boat House” and water skiing. Best time to enjoy the snowfall is Decembers to January. Must visit the floating vegetable market, and witness the flora fauna at Dachigam Wildlife Sanctuary and Nagin Lake.

2) Gulmarg – Skiers Paradise

Gulmarg is also known for the meadow of flowers, for snow sports like mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, golfing, and trekking. Watch the frozen lakes, riding the Gondola, splendid view of the snow-crowned Kongdori, Shark fin, and Apparwath Peaks.  The tall pines and cedars, white from top to bottom in snow, in the Nagin Valley are majestic.

4) Patnitop – Fun in Abundance

At an altitude of 2024 meters, you get the stupendous view of the Shivalik Range from Patnitop. The ranges are exotically covered with snow during winters and reinvigorate your sights. Sighting the Holy Kailash Mountains, walking through the pine forest, visits Gourikund; enjoy trekking at Shivgarh, and visiting the nearby villages for local delights can be enthralling. Sanasar is the place for abseiling, paragliding, rock climbing, and skiing.

5) Sonmarg – Nature’s Extravaganza

About 80kms from Srinagar this place remains in the lap of snow-capped peaks till the month of April, thanks to the altitude at which it is located. So this place can be visited even if one has missed visiting any during the winter months. Blessed with nature’s extravagant beauty and unmatched landscapes, this place is known for excursions. Number of Lakes, with clear, glass-like water and the famous Glacier – Baltal and Thajiwas Glacier can be seen,

6) Ladakh – World of Mightiest Mountains
