Majority of people in the world are right handed, some are left handed and very few are ambidextrous i.e., they have the ability to write with both the hands simultaneously. According to the present data only one percent of the global population is ambidextrous. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Leonardo da Vinci, Ben Franklin, and Albert Einstein are some of the genius and most famous personalities in the history who are capable of writing with both their hands.

Ambidextrous School in Madhya Pradesh
In India, there is a school in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh where all the students write with both their hands. This is the only ambidextrous school in India where nearly 300 students write with both their right and left hand at the same time and that too at a high speed. Apart from this it is most surprising that they are able to write in six different languages like Hindi, English, Urdu, Sanskrit, Arabic, and Roman.
Founder of the School and Introducer of Ambidextrous Skill
Mr. V P Verma an ex-army man was inspired by the ambidextrous skill that India’s first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad acquired. This instigated him to start Veena Vandini school where students were able to write in both right and left hands. It was founded on July 8, 1999, in the remote area, 15 kms from Budhela village of Singrauli district in Madhya Pradesh. This school runs up to class 8. Most of the students are dalits and tribals.

Mr Verma is the teacher and Principal of the school. He started training the students to write with both the hands simultaneously and most of them have mastered in this skill under his guidance and training .
Teaching and Development of Extraordinary Skill
Mr Verma with the help of other teachers started training students from class 1 so that they can acquire this incredible skill. When a new student comes to school he or she holds the pen in one hand and starts writing. Then after a month they are taught to use their other hand. Later the students are taught to use both the hands at the same time. The class is for 45 minutes and each student practices to write with both the hands together for 15 minutes.

By the time students reaches class 3 from class 1 they are comfortable in writing with both hands. When they reach class 7 and 8 they are able to write with speed and accuracy. They can also write two scripts simultaneously one with each hand.
Skill indicates and Benefits
The ambidextrous skill indicates that the left and right side of that person’s brain are somewhat much symmetrical. The skill of writing with both the hands simultaneously increases the speed of writing and ability to retain knowledge, improves concentration. Students can also complete their exam papers well before the given time. They can learn and write different languages at one time. It boosts the confidence in the child. Acquiring this skill is a great blessing for a child.
